Enhancing Lives Across Missouri: Programs for the Blind & Low Vision Community

The Blind and Low Vision Community of Missouri, which serves the entire state from its headquarters in St. Peters, MO, provides a range of activities aimed at empowering people who are blind or have low vision. Our programs give people of all ages useful tools, abilities, and support to enable them to confidently go about their daily lives. From educational workshops to social gatherings, there’s something for everyone. Legislation Program

Our Legislation Program advocates for the blind and low vision community by promoting education and awareness of critical issues. Members can travel to the state capital to directly engage with lawmakers on policies that impact the blind and low vision community, helping to shape positive change.

Summer Camp

The Blind and Low Vision Community of Missouri offers an exciting Summer Camp along the scenic Meramec River at Cobblestone Lodge in Steelville, MO. This program covers the majority of costs for members, with a small fee for adults, cabins, activities, and meals. This camp is a great opportunity for fun, relaxation, and making lasting memories. (Members only)

Assistive Technology Program

Our Assistive Technology Program helps members enhance their daily lives by offering magnifiers and other low vision devices. We cover up to 50% of the cost, with a maximum reimbursement of $2,000 per member. This program empowers individuals with the tools they need to regain independence.

Community Outreach

The Community Outreach Program is designed to help individuals with various disabilities, not just those with blindness or low vision. We support utility bills, covering up to $500, to ease the financial burden on individuals and families in need.

Interaction Committee

Our Interaction Committee hosts four annual social events across Missouri, promoting social well-being and community connection. These events are open to members and feature a variety of planned activities, with costs varying based on the event. Join us for fun, engaging opportunities to socialize and connect with others in the community.

Public Relations Program

Our PR Program is dedicated to spreading the word about The Blind and Low Vision Community of Missouri. We collaborate with local radio stations, media outlets, and other non-profit organizations to raise awareness about our mission and services.
